8. For longer-lasting lip color, apply a sheer layer of foundation to the lips, then color them in completely with a lip liner, before using your lipstick. This technique will also help to prevent “bleeding”. (For a plumper look, finish with a thin layer of clear gloss, or one that matches your lipstick shade.)
9. Because most lip glosses are sheer or translucent, it’s very hard to pick a wrong color. However, as with all cosmetic shades, there are a few “rules” that will help your lips look their best. Women with fair skin should stay away from deep reds and purples, and try more subtle tones such as peach, warm pink and clear. Medium skin tones should stick with warmer colors such as medium pinks and light reds. Women with dark complexions are extremely lucky because any shade will look great.
10. A great lip plumper is a must! Steer clear of harsh ingredients, like cinnamon, which cause burning sensations that inevitably results in dryness. Hydration is essential. When applying, tighten the lips to allow the formula to be fully and evenly absorbed. Try using a lip balm or moisturizer as a base, for a smoother, more kissable pout!
11. Stay away from lip glosses, lipsticks and/or any other products that require the use of a finger to apply. This method is a guaranteed way to spread germs and bacteria.
12. Personalization of your cosmetics is key. Every person is different; and thus, whenever possible, test makeup before purchasing to find shades that match your skin tone. (Use the back of your hand as a pallet, as the skin color there is closest to that of your face.) Palladio displays contain testers for sampling.
